John Ellison Obituary

John Thomas Ellison was born to the late Thomas and Bernice Sizemore Ellison-Russell in Morgan County, Alabama.

He was affectionately known as "Fatso" to family and friends.

He attended Decatur High School, afterwards joining the United States Army. He later attended Calhoun Community College. He was employed by General Motors from which he retired.

John confessed a hope in Christ at an early age. He was baptized and joined David Temple Primitive Church where he was leader in the choir. He was also the lead singer of The Rose of Sharon Group for 55 years. His mother was the organizer.

 John Ellison passed away this life on December 9, 2018 a the age of 66.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Thomas Ellison and Bernice Sizemore-Russell.

He is survived by 3 Loving Daughters: Pamela Ellison and LaShonda (Joseph) Pinchon of Harvest, Alabama. Khadija Ellison of Decatur, Alabama. 2 Grandsons: Alex Wiggins of Decatur, Alabama. Damione Clemons of Harvest, Alabama. 1 Granddaughter: Brooklyn Wiggins of Decatur, Alabama. 2 Sisters: Diana (David) Davis and Emma Jean Jefferson all of Decatur, Alabama. 1 Brother: Sammie Lee Wilkerson of Decatur, Alabama. 5 Nephews: Darius Powers and Carlos McDonald of Decatur, Alabama. Michael McDonald of Massasachusetts. James Petty of Dallas, TX. Ralph Russell of Mooresville, Alabama. 4 Nieces: Minesha Bates, Kristina McDonald and Terrie Robinson all of Decatur, Alabama. Jameaira Petty of Baltimore, MD. 2 Aunts: Georgia Ellison-Maxwell of Decatur, Alabama. Mary Frances Taylor of Indianapolis, IN. A Host of other relatives and friends.

 Under the directing of Sharpley Funeral Home. Funeral will be held Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 12:00pm at Bell Primitive Baptist Church (Located at 1803 Douthit St. SW. Decatur, Alabama 35601). The body will be in church 1 hr., before the services.
