Josie Ella Smith was born to the late Thomas Jeff and Josephine Bolden-Smith, Sr., in Morgan County, Alabama on October 3, 1942.
Josie was affectionately known as "Sap" and/or "Sella - Baby" by her family and friends.
She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age.
Sap was owner of numerous food businesses to name a few: Geno's Soul Food, Sap's Place. She also was a cook at Decatur Country Club, where she met numerous stars that would stop in the Country Club to visit, get some alone time with friends in the area, but always enjoyed and loved Sap's cooking and conversation, to name a few stars that visited was: The Queen of Soul herself the late Great Aretha Franklin, Stephanie Mills and the soul man himself, Otis Redding.
Sap was the oldest of 9 children.
She is preceded in death by 2 Daughters: Karen Reedus and Burnetta Reedus. Her Parents: Thomas Jeff and Josephine Bolden-Smith, Sr., Her Grandmother: Artelia Ross-Bolden. 2 Uncles: George Bolden and James Bolden. Her brother: Thomas Jeff Smith, Jr.
Josie departed this life on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at River City Rehab Center.
Her memories will be cherished by: A Devoted Companion Eugene Hodges. Her Children: Debra Smith, Kenneth Reedus, Jr., Ronald Reedus and Sharon Reedus. A Host of Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. 6 Sisters: Carrie Garth, Margaret Smith, Linda(Ed) Davis, Garry Ann Smith, Sharon Smith and Margaret Stewart. 2 Brothers: Robert Smith and Larry Smith. 1 Aunt: Artelia Bolden. A Devoted Friend and Children's Father: Kenneth Reedus, Sr. A God-Daughter: Laura Ann Smith. A Host of other relatives and friends.

Under the directing of Sharpley Funeral Home. Funeral will be held Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 1:00pm at Macedonia Cumberland Presbyterian Church ( Located at 1820 Old Moulton Rd. Decatur, Alabama 35601). Burial in Bell Cemetery. The body will be in church 1 hr., before the services.
