Julius Miller Obituary

Mr. Julius Miller was born December 16,1948 to the late Artie Bell-Miller and the late Samuel Fletcher, Sr., in Decatur, Alabama. He departed this life on Sunday, April 28, 2019 at VA Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama.

Julius began his education at Cedar Lake Elementary School. He graduated from Morgan County Training School in Hartselle, Alabama in 1968. The following year he joined and served proudly in the Navy in 1969. He later entered the Job Corps and earned his degree in Heavy Equipment Operator. He retired after 13 years from 3M and later joined the National Guard and retired with an Honorable Discharge after 20 years.

Julius accepted Christ as his Savior and joined New Jones Chapel CME Church in Decatur, Alabama where he attended until his health failed.

He is preceded in death by his parents. Grandparents. A Son: Quenton Troupe. A Niece: Sarah Miller. A Brother: Samuel Fletcher, Jr.

Julius leaves to mourn and cherish his memories: 5 Sons: Derrick Watson, Tracy Watson, Andre Miler of Decatur, Alabama. Julius Miller, Jr., of Florence, Alabama. Kenneth Troupe of Tanner, Alabama.

2 Step-Sons: Shannon Miller and Erick Miller. 3 Daughters:  Stacy Watson of Decatur, Alabama. LaToya Miller of Trinity, Alabama and Tamika Miller of California . 4 Brothers: Frank Miller, Curtis Fletcher, Lester Wayne Fletcher of Decatur, Alabama and Tommy (Jackie) Fletcher of Georgia. 4 Sisters: Gwen Thomas of Decatur, Alabama. Stephanie Fletcher, Cathy Russell and Lisa Fletcher of Chattanooga, Tn. 2 Loving and Devoted Aunts: Katie Mae Seals of Decatur, Alabama. Labell Burks of Louisville, Ky. 16 Grandchildren. 11 Great-Grandchildren. A host of other relatives and friends.

Under the directing of Sharpley Funeral Home. Funeral for Mr. Julius Miller, 70 of Decatur, Alabama who passed away Sunday, April 28, 2019 at VA Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama will be held Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 1:00pm at St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church (Located at 218 Cedar Lake Rd. SW. Decatur, Alabama 35601). Burial in Blackwell Cemetery. The body will be in church 1 hr., before the services. The family will receive friends Friday Evening from 5:00pm-7:00pm at The Henrietta Garth-Sharpley Memorial Chapel.
