Mable Savage-Foster

April 27, 1949 ~ January 3, 2018 (age 68) 68 Years Old


Mable Foster was born on April 27, 1949 to Lovell and Leola Savage in Town Creek, Alabama. She was the 5th of 10 children. Growing up she was always a hard worker, she put her best efforts in everything she did. She attended Central High School in Courtland, Alabama, where she graduated in 1967.

After Graduation, Mable had her eyes set on the working world. She started her career immediately a the Wayne Farms Poultry Plant. She worked hard to get the things she wanted in life. Mable consistently maintained employment until recently when she retired. She worked for over 20 years at EFP South on the  Production line. When Mable was not working, she rewarded herself with shopping at local boutiques and malls.

In 1969, Mable married her high school sweetheart, James Goode and to this union they had one child: Rodney Tyrone Goode in 1970. Years later she was blessed to find love again with D.O. Foster, they married and shared a long and loving life until his death in 2016.

Mable accepted Christ at an early age. She was baptized at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Town Creek, Alabama, where she was a member for many years. She later joined First Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Daylon Woodall. She loved serving and praising the Lord. Her favorite scripture was 23rd Psalms and her favorite song was "Fix It Jesus" by The Canton Spirituals.

Mable was called from Labor to reward on January 3, 2018. She was preceded in death by her brother Earnest Savage.

She leaves to cherish her memory 1 Son: Rodney Goode of Minneapolis, MN. 3 Sisters: Marilyn Savage of Birmingham, Alabama. Brenda Robinson of Decatur, Alabama. Evelyn (Daryl) Davis of Inkster, MI. 5 Brothers: Willie Savage of Birmingham, Alabama. Joe (Christina) Savage of Cebu, Philippines. Melvin (Pat) Savage of Atascadero, CA. Stewart Savage of Inkster, MI. Charles Savage of Decatur, Alabama. A host o nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Under the directing of Sharpley Funeral Home. Funeral will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 1:00pm at First Missionary Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Friday Evening from 6:00pm-7:00pm at The Henrietta Garth-Sharpley Memorial Chapel. The body will be in church 1 hr. before the services.
