Margie Griffin-Leach Obituary

On March 1, 1926,  Margie Rene Griffin arrived, the second oldest child to the late Mrs. Magnolia Griffin-Owens and Mr. Murray S. Griffin.

Aunt Margie as she was affectionately called by many, made her earthly transition on Monday, April 9, 2018, at her residence surrounded by her family and friends.

She as also known by others as that "Lady" who walked every day. It was one of her hobbies, as well as keeping her lawn trimmed and well-groomed.

United in Holy Matrimony to the late Mr. Lunceford Pruitt, this union ended in divorce. She later married Mr. Carl Leach, Jr., who preceded her in death.

Margie accepted Christ at an early age and became a member until most recently due to her failing health. She was one of the oldest members in the church. A longtime member of the Order of Eastern Star Progressive Chapter 464 in Moulton, Alabama.

In early years, she was very active in community projects and worked diligently in the Summer School Remedial Reading Programs. You could always get  "meal" at her home as she was very generous and a great cook.

9 Children played an important role in her life, she wasn't a birth mother, but favored and showed al with love and discipline.

She was preceded in death by her siblings: Barbara G. Reid. Elizabeth(Liz) Williams and her only Brother: Richard Harris Griffin.

Her legacy of love will be forever cherished by her sole survivor, who was her Loving and Dedicated Caregiver: Her Sister: Mrs. Lela G. Reaves of Moulton, Alabama. 2 Step-Daughters: Mrs. Vera Brown of Moulton, Alabama. Mrs. Carlean (Newlin, Sr.) Stephenson of Chicago, ILL. 5 Step-Grandchildren: Mr. Kenneth Leach of Crown Point, IN. Mr. Anthony Leach of Decatur, Alabama. Ms.  Andrea "Nita" Brown of Madison, Alabama. Lisa Stephenson and Newlin, Jr., Stephenson. Nieces: Mrs. Debra (Howard) Boyd of Falkville, Alabama. Ms. Carol Griffin of New Rochelle, NY. Margie is also survived by other nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Under the directing of Sharpley Funeral Home. Funeral will be held Friday, April 13, 2018 at 1:00pm at Freeman Tabernacle Baptist Church. Burial in Moulton Memory Gardens. The body will be in church 1 hr., before the services.
