Mary Olivia Carter

Mary Olivia Carter was born June 18, 1920 in Lawrence County, Alabama to the late Caleb and Harriett Owens-Carter, Sr.

She accepted Christ at an early age and was a current member of Jackson Chapel CME Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents. 4 Brothers: Melvin, James, Caleb, Jr. and Robert. 3 Sisters: Laura, Annie LuSeal and Elnora Carter. 4 Sons: Horace Bates, Sr., Charlie Jamie Smith, Tommy and Jimmy Carter. 4 Daughters: Birt Ann and Mildred Bates, Diane and Brenda Carter.

She departed this life surrounded by family and friends at home on Monday, December 18,2017.

She leaves to cherish her memories: 3 Children: Robert Earl Carter of Courtland, Alabama. Mary (Rick) Carter-Lucas, Elaina (Julius) Mayers of Decatur, Alabama. A Godson: Percell Gath. Son-In-Law: Eddie Lucas all of Decatur, Alabama. A Devoted Niece: Pastor Sallie Carter-Thompson. A Devoted Nephew: Pastor Thompson of Kennett, MI. 10 Grandchildren. A Special Grandchild: Ebony Fennell. 26 Great-Grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was also god-Mother to all the Willard Children and may more.

  Under the Directing of Sharpley Funeral Home. Funeral will be held Saturday, December 23, 2017 at 11:00am at Jackson Chapel CME Church in Courtland, Alabama. Dr. Shirley Fletcher, Pastor-Officiating. Burial in Rocky Hill Cemetery in Courtland. The body will be in church 1 hr. before the services.
