Welcome to the memorial page for

Pastor Odesor "Odessa" Miller-Sanchious

July 15, 1940 ~ September 14, 2017 (age 77) 77 Years Old

Pastor Odessa Sanchious was born July 15, 1940 to the lineage of Shedreck and Mary Johnson-Miller. Also, to this union was born 4 boys and 3 girls.

Later in life, Odessa met Mr. Herbert James and to this union 1 child was born (Pat). A little later, Odessa met Mr. James Jackson and to this union 1 child was born (Lisa). Further on down the line, Odessa met and fell in love with Mr. Willie James Sanchious, Sr. affectionately known as "Sonny" whom she married, and to this union 4 children were born (Larra, Karen, Willie Jr. and John).

Odessa moved to Decatur, Alabama in January 1973 under the leadership of the late Bishop John W. Barber. Alabama was a place that Odessa said that she never wanted to live in but when God says relocate, you must move.

Odessa was very obedient to God and her Pastor and that's how she began to accumulate the different titles that she is affectionately known by today. Some call her Mom, Mother, Mommie, Evangelist, Sister, Auntie, Debbie and Pastor.

Now under the leadership of Bishop T.L. Hill she was ordained and kept the role of Pastor of the Now Faith Church.

Pastor Sanchious is greatly loved by many as you can look around and see. Her church family is so protective of her well-being. Simply for the fact that she puts herself in a position that whenever the flock needed her she was there. If she was out of town and something happened to one of the members she still found time to call and check on us to let us know that everything is still all right.

Pastor Sanchious, there is no-one that will ever take your place in our hearts because you are a woman after God's own heart and you truly showed us how a real Pastor was supposed to be. You are someone that doesn't hide from God's people.

Even though you have the store we were still allowed to come to the store to just sit around and talk with you. This is a continuance of how Bishop Barber was with the people that he ministered to. Bishop Barber put himself in the way that people could talk to him about anything. Thank you for coming under the tutelage of a man that feared God and God's people. As the saying goes "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree".

Pastor Odessa Sanchious passed on to Glory, September 14, 2017 around 10:30am. We should have known she was going to take a morning flight due to the fact she would be at her church at 6am, hours before service starts.

Pastor Sanchious leaves to mourn, 6 children: Patricia "Pat" Miller, Melissie "Lisa" Jackson, Lorraine "Larra" Sanchious, Karen Sanchious and John (Veronica) Sanchious all of Decatur, Alabama.
