And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, And receive you unto myself; That where I am, There ye may be also. And wither I go ye know, And the way ye know." John14: 1-4.

Charles Edward Cunningham was born on June 29, 1953 to the late Willie Dean Hayes and the late Walter Cunningham, Sr.

He accepted Christ at an early age. He also answered his calling and became an ordained minister of the God's Gospel.

He received his formal education in the Lawrence County School System. He also attended Adult Education in the Decatur City School System.

Charles retired from the Alabama State Hwy Department as a Contractor.

He is preceded in death by His Parents. A Sister: Sarah Bolden. 2 Brothers: Walter Cunningham, Jr. and Percy Mason.

He departed this life Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Decatur Morgan Hospital / Decatur General Campus.

He leaves to mourn and cherish his memories: A Loving Wife: Mattye Cunningham of Decatur, Alabama. A Daughter: Mary "Diane" Cunningham of Decatur, Alabama. 2 Sons: Reginald Connely, Sr., of Huntsville, Alabama. Charles Cunningham, Jr. 5 Step-Children: Arnita Boulden, Starry Davis, Schara "Monique" Davis, Pamela Cunningham and LaToya Cunningham. 20 Grand-Children: TySheeka (Darryl) Johnson, Shylandrius (DeAndre) Collins, Tygwendlyln Clack, Malik Davis, Heaven Clinton, Jerra and Jerrion Swopes, Sean Ayers, Jr., Channin Clinton, Brandon Jolly, Terracia King, Tamari and Braylin Boulden, Sanna Towsend, Jala Gayle, Kahill and Matthew Gayle, Reginald Connely, Jr., Layan Connely and Landrius Horton. 7 Great- Grandchildren. 4 Brothers: Fred Cunningham of Decatur, Alabama. Ronnie (Dorris) Davenport and Lee Davenport all of Town Creek, Alabama. Gary (Cynthia) Davenport of Tuscumbia, Alabama. 7 Sisters: Lillie Mae Orr and Rosie Hayes both of Moulton, Alabama. Louvenia Guster and Della Mae Cunningham both of Decatur, Alabama. Ollie Davenport and Angela Reedus both of Courtland, Alabama. Carolyn Davenport of Huntsville, Alabama.  A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Under the directing of Sharpley Funeral Home. Funeral will be held Friday, January 18, 2019 at 1:00pm at St. Paul Spiritual Church (Located at 211 Wilson St. Nw. Decatur, Alabama 35601). Pastor Ann Priest, Pastor-Officiating. The body will be in church 1 hr., before the services.
