Shirley Ann ("Burt") Johnson

" In the end she became more than what she expected. She became the journey, and like all journeys, she did not end, she just simply changed directions and kept going."

Shirley Ann Johnson was born April 15, 1947 in Morgan County, Alabama to the late Leo Burt and Sarah Love.

Shirley graduated from Lakeside High School in 1965 and began her career with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co, Inc. After 33 years, she retired and began her second career... Enjoying her home, spending time with family and friends and her favorite pass time-watching television!!

Shirley entered into Holy Matrimony to Leon Johnson in 1965. To this union 1 child was born a son: Lyndon.

Shirley's Longtime Loving and Devoted Friend: Herschel Mitchell preceded her in death in 2013, as well as her parents some years ago.

She transitioned into eternal life with her family by her side on Friday, October 19, 2018 at Decatur Morgan Hospital / Decatur General Campus.

Shirley leaves to cherish her memory: A Son and Daughter: Lyndon and Hallie Johnson. A Grandson: Ricky. 3 Great-Grandchildren: Jaylin, Myles and Hallie. Also Shirley's In-Laws: Mrs. Annie Johnson, David Johnson, Margaret Chapman, John Johnson, Shirley Burrow, Susan Sawyer, Jeffrey Johnson and Patricia Johnson. She also leaves a number of close friends. She also leaves Close Relatives to mourn: Emma Mitchell, Nona Mae Teague, Sharon Miller, Wayne Thompson, Phyllis England, Tiffany M. Johnson, Wanda Stevenson and Frederick Wright.

Shirley was a Loving Mother and Friend with an Infectious Sense of Humor and an Inviting Personality, who went above and beyond to help others. She touched many lives a host of extended family and friends from all walks of life.

Under the directing of Sharpley Funeral Home. Funeral will be held Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 1:00pm at King's Memorial United Methodist Church. Burial in Sterrs Cemetery. The body will be in church 1 hr. before the services. The family will receive friends Friday, October 26, 218 from 5:00pm-6:00pm at the Henrietta Garth-Sharpley Memorial Chapel(Located at 410 Railroad St. NW. Decatur, Alabama 35601).
