Thelma Hazel Barker

Thelma Hazel Barker was born to Pauline Driscoll and Ernest Holland on February 3, 1932 in Morgan County, Alabama.

She attended the Morgan County School Systems.

She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She was a faithful and Missionary at St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church for many years.

Thelma is preceded in death by her parents. Her late husband Jessie Barker. 1 grand-Daughter: Agatha Lynn Torain. 1 Great- Grandson: Jayden Sledge.

She departed this life Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Falkville USA Health Care.

She leaves to cherish her memories: 4 Daughters: Shirley (James) Draper of Priceville, Alabama. Hazel (Steve) Christopher of Rossville, Ga. J.D'Lois (Willie) Sledge of Athens, Alabama. Kathy Barker-Garth of Decatur, Alabama. 2 Sisters: Mary (Craig) Mangie of Morgantown, WV. Edna Taylor of Huntsville, Alabama. 8 Grandchildren: Monique Barker, Jarvar Sledge, Joseph Sledge, Andrea Christopher, Ashley Garth, Aleah Garth, Victor Garth, Jr., Asia Garth. 12 Great-Grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Under the directing of Sharpley Funeral Home. Funeral will be held Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 12:00pm at St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church (located at 218 Cedar Lake Rd SW. Decatur, Alabama 35603). Rev. Darryl Watkins, Officiating. Burial in Sterrs Cemetery. The body will be in church 1 hr., before the services.
