The Lord was my Shepherd, I walked through the valley of death, I feared no evil, because the Lord was with me all the way. At the end of my journey He took me away. I'm home with him now. No more pain or aches that I have to endure anymore. I'm here with the Lord now and I'm Happy.
Dorothy Mae Orr was born in Hartselle, AL on June 6, 1948 to the late Wilma and Arlene Emerson Orr. She departed this life on Friday, October 23, 2020 at Decatur General Hospital in Decatur, AL.
Dorothy graduated from Morgan County Training School in 1967. From there she moved to Detroit, MI and attended a two year college and obtained a degree in business.
She turned her life over to God at an early age and joined St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Somerville, AL.
She worked for Mack's Restaurant at the Red Carpet Inn in Decatur, AL, SCI in Huntsville, AL, General Electric (GE) in Decatur, AL for a short period of time and worked over 30 years for Dr. and Mrs. Venkata B. Kantamneni.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Reverend Paul Howard Orr.
She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Soshana Ni'Que Orr and one grandson, Malik Tevares Orr both of Somerville, AL. Three brothers, Luther Speak (Virenda) Orr of Nashville, TN, Donald Lee (Doris) Orr of Huntsville, AL. Three nieces and five nephews. She cared and reared in the life of these Special Cousins Paul Sharpley of Somerville, AL., Calden (Toney) Hall of Hampton, VA., Larry (Jolene) Sharpley of Decatur, AL., Coretta Gurley (Stanley) Tillman of Vicksburg, MS., Andre' C. Sharpley of Hartselle, AL., and Vanessa Peors (Christopher) Burley of Houton, TX. and a host of cousins and friends.

Dorothy Orr, 72 of Somerville, Alabama who passed away Friday, October 23, 2020 at Decatur Morgan Hospital / Decatur General Campus will be held Saturday, October 31, 2020 at 2:00pm at Curry Chapel Cemetery in Valhermoso Springs, Alabama. The family will receive friends Friday, October 30, 2020 from 6:00pm-7:00pm at the Henrietta Garth-Sharpley Memorial Chapel.
