Esther Smith Obituary

Esther Mae Taylor-Smith was born December 19, 1947, to the late Robert Taylor and the late Minnie Lee Taylor of Limestone County. She departed this life on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Madison Hospital.

Esther confessed hope in Christ at an early age and joined the Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church located in Greenbrier, Alabama under the leadership of the late Reverend W.E. Owes. She served as a Sunday School Secretary and was a faithful member of the Sanctuary Choir until her health failed.

Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Edward Smith; a daughter Sharon Leola Smith-Rather; son Edward Pernell Smith; two sisters: Catherine Hobbs and Pearline Taylor; one brother Johnny Taylor; one brother-in-law Clarence Smith; father-in-law Egbert Smith and mother-in-law Minister Viola Smith.

Warm memories of Esther will always be cherished by a loving and devoted friend William Joseph Henderson of Madison, Alabama; one devoted daughter: Cicely (Ryan) Waldrop of Ponte Vedra, Florida; one loving granddaughter: Uniquwa Rather; two devoted grandsons: Michael Anthony Rather and Edward Micha Waldrop; nine sisters-in-law; Clara (Elex) Jones, Maureen Fearn, Pinkie Clayborn and Caranell (John) Toney all of Triana, Alabama; Frances (Wardell) Robinson, Lottie (Bernard) Curry and Phyliss (Stephen) Miller all of Madison, Alabama; Minister Linda Williams, Catherine Smith all of Huntsville, Alabama; four brothers-in-law: Leon Smith; Billy (Bobbie) Smith and Phillip (Beverly) Smith all of Madison, Alabama; Lloyd (Sandra) Smith of Nashville, Tennessee. Special cousins, nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and dear friends and one special cousin and longtime neighbor, Peggie Warner.

Under the directing of Sharpley Funeral Home. A Graveside Service for Mrs. Esther Taylor-Smith, 73 of Madison, Alabama who passed away Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Madison Hospital will be held Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 2:00pm at Triana Cemetery.
