Mother Delia (Pickett) Johnson

Delia Pickett-Johnson was born in Limestone County, Alabama to the late John Lockett Pickett and the late Exline Grant Pickett on December 24, 1922.

Delia gave her life to Christ at an early age. She was a member of Union Grove Primitive Baptist Church where she was awarded the oldest Mother of the Church on October 10, 2010.

She retired from the Huntsville International Airport at the Sky Center Motel.

She was known as "Big Mama" and "Aunt D" to some as well.

She is preceded in death by her husband. Her parents, sisters, brothers, grand daughter: Marily Walker.

Delia leaves to cherish her memories: A Loving and Devoted Daughter: Mary Lee Brown of Decatur, Alabama. 7 Grandchildren: Harrietta Miller. Leroy (Monyette) Green. Nathaniel (Jessica) Green. Jacqueline Garrett. John (Deona) Freeman, ll. Nicole (Willie) Evans. Delia Brown. 24 Great-Grandchildren. 34 Great-Great-Grandchildren. 8 Great-Great-Great-Grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews other relative and friends.

She departed this life November 10, 2019 at Genesis River City Center.

Under the directing of Sharpley Funeral Home. Funeral will be held Sunday, November 17, 2019 at 2:00pm at Union Grove Primitive Baptist Church (Located at 522 13th Ave NW. Decatur, Alabama 35601). Dr. George Franklin, Pastor-Officiating. Private Burial will be held at an later unannounced date. The body will be in church 1 hr., before the services.
