William Orr Obituary

William Wesley Orr, son of the late Johnny William and Mattie Orr, was born July 31, 1950, in Courtland, Alabama. He quietly departed this life surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, March 30, 2019.

He was educated in the Lawrence County School System. At an early age he professed his faith in Jesus Christ and joined Jackson Chapel CME Church.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to Mary B. Watkins in May of 1970. This union was blessed wit 2 children, Jackie and Calvin.

William was a hard working man, who worked several jobs in the surrounding areas including Prestolite ad late retired fro Automotive Screw.

He had a very big heart, generous spirit and pleasant personality. These memories will remain in the lives of all who knew him.

His memory will be forever cherished in the lives of his children: Jackie (Randy) Downing and Calvin Orr, both of Decatur, Alabama. 3 Loving Grandchildren: LarDarius and Keithian Shackelford, Kenyon Orr all of Decatur, Alabama.

William, with his caring heart, helped raise 5 children as his own: Gerald and Ron Perkins of Madison, Alabama. Shae (Cortez) Mitchell, Jwana Perkins and Cade Mitchell of Montgomery, Alabama. He also leaves behind 7 Loving Brothers and Sisters: Harry (Lois) Orr, Lottie Mayes of Decatur, Alabama. Jerry, Chris and Willie Orr of Courtland, Alabama. Frances Gholston of Tuscumbia, Alabama and Kenneth (Demetrice) Orr of Danville, Alabama. 2 Aunts: Birnest Echols of Decatur, Alabama and Bertha Mitchell of Courtland, Alabama. 2 Uncles: Phillip Orr and Robert (Maxine) Orr of Decatur, Alabama. William will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and close friends.

Orr, 68 of Courtland, Alabama who passed away Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Decatur Morgan Hospital / Decatur General will be held Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 12:00pm at God's Love Covenant Church (Located at 712 Memorial Dr. SW. Decatur, Alabama 35601). Pastors Regina Willingham and Shepherd Carl Willingham. Burial in Sterrs Cemetery. The body will be in church 1 hr., before the services.
